In recent days, reports that "Our country's lands are being given away or sold to foreigners" are widely spreading through social networks.

According to the Cadastre Agency, requirements for the allocation (realization) of land plots are determined by the Land Code, and according to its Article 17, foreign citizens and legal entities, persons without citizenship, and enterprises with foreign investments can only have leasing rights to land plots.

In accordance with Article 24, land plots are leased to enterprises with foreign investments, international associations and organizations, foreign individuals and legal entities.

"What if they lease it and then privatize it, what do we do?" - do not panic.

There is no need to worry, according to the Law on "Privatization of Land Plots Not Intended for Agriculture," foreign citizens, stateless persons, foreign legal entities, enterprises with foreign investments, as well as state bodies, institutions, enterprises, and local self-government bodies will not be subjects of privatization, meaning that lands will not be privatized and given to foreigners.

"What if it is agricultural land? Will they privatize it?" - do not trouble yourself. Even the citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan cannot privatize agricultural lands.

Therefore, reports with the content that OUR LANDS ARE BEING GIVEN AWAY TO FOREIGN CITIZENS are baseless and released without thorough investigation, - states the official report.

Disseminating false information is subject to liability under Article 202 part 2 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility and Article 244 part 6 of the Criminal Code.
