The virus known among the people as "jaundice" is considered an acute contagious disease.
The press service of the Ministry of Health answered the expert's questions about the types and risks of the disease.
According to Gulnoza Qurbanova, the chief physician of the 1st Infectious Disease Clinical Hospital of Tashkent city, hepatitis is an infectious disease, mainly consisting of types A, B, C, D, E. The disease differs in its clinical course and complications. In our country, types A, B, C are more common.
For example, hepatitis A virus can be transmitted through unwashed hands and is mainly spread among children. Therefore, this disease is also called "dirty hands disease". The virus can be transmitted mainly through contaminated water, food, poorly washed dishes, and contact with a sick person.
Moreover, hepatitis B is considered the most dangerous among these types of the disease, causing the death of thousands of people worldwide every year. The type C of the disease is often a dangerous disease that can cause liver cirrhosis or cancer, which doctors also call a "gentle killer". This is because no adverse changes are observed during its development period in the patient.
The types B, C, D of the disease are mainly transmitted through blood. Viral hepatitis often presents with symptoms such as weakness, loss of appetite, diarrhea, elevated body temperature, nausea, vomiting, pain in the right side of the abdomen, yellowing of the skin and eyes, and changes in the color of urine.
The risk of transmission of the virus is high in its hidden, initial stages and types that occur without signs of jaundice. In this case, the patient may unknowingly transmit the disease to close contacts and family members.
If hepatitis is not fully and timely treated, it can lead to severe complications such as chronic hepatitis and liver cirrhosis. Therefore, it is necessary to consult a doctor immediately when the above symptoms are observed.
To prevent the disease, it is first of all necessary to adhere to a healthy lifestyle. In addition, it is necessary to follow personal hygiene rules, and sanitary and epidemiological rules in the preparation and storage of food products. Considering that hepatitis can also be transmitted through the air, doctors recommend vaccination as the most effective method of protection.
Therefore, today in our country, free vaccination against type B of the disease is organized based on the National Vaccination Calendar.
