This year in Tajikistan, Ramadan may last for 29 days, with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr (Idi Ramazon) taking place on March 30. This was reported by “Asia-Plus” according to the Committee on Religious Affairs, Traditions, Ceremonies, and Rituals of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the source, the Council of Ulama of Tajikistan will hold a meeting on March 27 to make a final decision regarding the date of the holiday.
“Because the months of Rajab and Sha'ban this year consist of 30 days, it is highly probable that Ramadan will last for 29 days. In addition, countries in the region, Saudi Arabia, and other Muslim states are also agreeing with this opinion,” states the Committee's announcement.
Ramadan began on March 1 this year in Tajikistan. The beginning of the month was determined by the Council of Ulama of Tajikistan based on the conclusion of the Astrophysics Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.
This year in Tajikistan, the amount of Fitr charity has been set at 8 somoni (9,500 UZS), and Zakat at 900 somoni (1 million UZS). The obligation to pay Zakat is imposed on individuals with financial capabilities exceeding 36,000 somoni (42 million 700 thousand UZS).
