Yesterday, at the Ministry of Culture in France, Gayane Umerova, the chairperson of the Uzbekistan Foundation for the Development of Culture and Arts, was awarded the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (Ordre des Arts et des Lettres), reports the "World" news agency here.
Rachida Dati, the French Minister of Culture, in her speech at the award ceremony, acknowledged the continuous state policy in developing culture in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and emphasized that this strengthens strategic partnership relations with France.
"This high award is a recognition of Uzbekistan's efforts and contribution to strengthening international cultural relations and developing global dialogue in the field of art. The awarding of this order to the representative of Uzbekistan in the presence of the government, the President's administration, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the diplomatic corps, cultural figures, and international partners is a bright indication of the efficiency of New Uzbekistan's cultural diplomacy," said Minister Rachida Dati.
We would like to remind that Gayane Umerova is a member of the Scientific Council of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan.
In recent years, the cooperation between Uzbekistan and France in the field of culture and art has moved to a new level thanks to a number of important initiatives – from extensive exhibitions on Uzbek heritage at the Louvre to active participation in international cultural forums.
In this regard, the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Art in Uzbekistan, which implements priority projects under the leadership of our state's leader, plays a significant role.
The Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters is awarded each year to about 60 people around the world, including France, to honor their contributions to the flowering and flourishing of arts and literature.
The team of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan sincerely congratulates Gayane Umerova on this high recognition.
