President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was introduced to a presentation on April 21 on improving the quality of school education and perfecting the system of preparing pedagogues. He familiarized himself with it.
“Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy designated the education system reforms as one of the priority directions. This year’s state program also sets numerous tasks for improving conditions in schools and raising a knowledgeable younger generation.
This, to a large extent, depends on teachers' knowledge and skills. In our country, there are pedagogy programs in 15 state and 61 private higher education institutions. However, their scientific potential is around only 40 percent.
A large portion of admissions is formed by social science programs. The number of pedagogues being trained in exact and natural sciences is very low. Forty percent of students are studying in external education programs.
For this reason, a plan to transform Tashkent State Pedagogical University and establish the National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan, to bring to life the future pedagogues project, is being considered. The university will become a foundational higher education institution for all pedagogical institutes in all regions.
At the “New Uzbekistan” university, more than 40 foreign instructors and 30 of our compatriot intellectuals are active. Students have attracted grants worth 24.3 billion UZS for their various projects. Utilizing this potential, plans to develop training of specialists in modern fields such as engineering, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and medicine, and to open new laboratories were presented.
Additionally, to ensure the integration of science, education, and practice, plans to establish a modern university clinic using Germany’s advanced experience are being developed.
International methods are being introduced to determine the quality of education. This year, the knowledge of 9,000 15-year-old students from 233 schools will be assessed through the “PISA” international program.
Currently, 2,000 schools are operating under high load. This year, through the budget, 112,000 new student places will be established. Considering the population growth, the demand for schools will also increase. Therefore, plans to build 58 modern schools in regions by attracting 200 million dollars from the Islamic Development Bank are being made.
Analyses show that 80 percent of school-aged children are active on the internet and social networks. Certain measures are being taken to protect them from harmful information. However, the number of creators producing interesting national content that could significantly influence the education and upbringing of the youth is limited.
Based on these factors, instructions were given to create a safe information environment for children, increase national content, and support creators.
