American actor Tom Cruise has entered the Guinness Book of Records through a stunt he performed in the latest movie of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise. This was reported by TASS here.
"‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning’ the franchise's eighth, and so far last installment, has raised the bar – Tom's impressive stunts in the film earned him the Guinness record for the most flame parachute jumps ever performed by an individual," — the report says.
The actor did 16 takes for the jumping scene. He jumped from a helicopter with a parachute soaked in a flammable mixture, which started burning mid-air, after which the actor released it, opened the reserve parachute, and landed safely.
"No other actor or stuntman has performed such a high number of dangerous jumps," — says the record book.
62-year-old Tom Cruise is famous as an actor who strives to perform stunts himself to make his films more realistic. He mostly does this for the "Mission: Impossible" movie. The franchise's latest installment was released in the US in late May.
Cruise also holds another title in the Guinness Book of Records — as an actor participating in the longest-running film series to have earned over $100 million in revenue.
