Russia wants to take control of Moldova — country's President Maia Sandu
A meeting of the Supreme Security Council of Moldova took place in Chisinau. The country's President Maia Sandu warned about the possibility of Russian interference in the parliamentary elections, as reported by TV8 channel.
"Russia has long wanted to take control of the Republic of Moldova and is preparing for unprecedented interference in the September parliamentary elections. Moscow is investing in various political projects for this purpose and is striving to get its people into parliament," the president clarified.
In this context, Sandu mentioned the network under the control of pro-Russian businessman Ilan Shor, who is currently outside Moldova's territory.
On July 19, Moldova's Central Election Commission denied the registration of the "Victory" bloc associated with Shor for participation in the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28.
Additionally, the Moldovan president criticized the Telegram messenger. The Telegram administration has not responded to requests from Moldovan officials. According to Sandu, this messenger is being used to organize protest actions and finance vote-buying schemes through closed groups.
