Germany's parliament found externally visible LGBT symbols—particularly rainbow flags—to be in violation of regulations. Several deputies, including Left Party member Stella Merendinoga, were instructed to remove these symbols.

According to Article 4 of the Bundestag's regulations, placing posters, flags, or other symbols in visible areas inside and outside the building is strictly prohibited. The ban applies not only to the rainbow flag but also to the flags of Germany and the European Union.

Earlier, Bundestag President Julia Klöckner opposed raising the rainbow flag over the Reichstag for Gay Pride, approving its display only on May 17—the International Day Against Homophobia.

Deputies protesting this decision arrived at parliament wearing clothing in rainbow colors.
