According to Lavrov, Budapest is considered the most acceptable location for holding a meeting. US President Trump also preferred Budapest during his meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán.

The Russian side denies reports about the US canceling the summit. This decision is not related to the "non-paper" memorandum on Ukraine sent by the Russian side.

The memorandum recalled the mutual understanding reached in previous talks in Anchorage and emphasized the absence of provocative content.

During a phone call, Trump did not view this document as a provocation and did not express dissatisfaction.

The next stage involved planning a meeting of foreign policy, defense, and special services representatives, but the US did not follow through.

It is noted that the proposal to hold the summit was made after the phone call on October 16, but its cancellation was announced later.

The Russian side emphasized that it is currently prepared for the meeting and views Budapest as the most convenient option.
