A correspondent from Darakchi.uz addressed Erlan Nysanbayev, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the following question: What do you consider the most important work being done or that should be done between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan for animals?
"We have agreements on this matter. For example, regarding the issue of saigas, there is a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries. The saiga population is in Kazakhstan during one season. In winter, they are in Karakalpakstan. Both sides work together and protect them. Today, thanks to our joint work, the saiga population is increasing. There are no borders in the general flora and fauna. We are increasing such agreements so that animals can move freely between the two areas."
Furthermore, within the framework of the conference taking place in Samarkand, the Samarkand Declaration on the sustainable use of wild fauna and flora resources and combating the illegal trade of wild animals, as well as a regional action plan for 2026–2032, were signed between the Central Asian countries of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
