The fourth meeting of the high-level Strategic Cooperation Council was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The parties emphasized the symbolic importance of the event taking place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Eternal Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries and during the blessed month of Ramadan. It was noted that political dialogue is developing rapidly and that positions on international issues are similar.
An agreement was reached to continue mutual support within the framework of the UN, the Organization of Turkic States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Economic Cooperation Organization. The intensification of inter-parliamentary ties, the growth in trade volume, and the increasing number of joint ventures and projects were emphasized.
The task was set to increase mutual trade turnover to 5 billion dollars in the coming years. Furthermore, an agreement was reached to expand joint initiatives in the fields of industrial cooperation, interregional cooperation, agriculture, healthcare, tourism, culture, and education.
At the end of the meeting, the governments were instructed to approve a "roadmap" for the implementation of the adopted decisions. Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan.
