A newborn with a rare pathology in the Sherobod district of Surkhandarya region underwent surgery at the Samarkand Regional Children's Multidisciplinary Medical Center. This was reported to Darakchi.uz by the head of the Samarkand Regional Health Department, Sukhrob Zainiev.

After images of a newborn with four legs spread widely on social networks, official information was provided regarding the situation.

According to specialists, the baby was born with a rare pathology characteristic of Siamese twins. The second part of the fetus had not fully formed, and the underdeveloped embryo had only the lower part of the body formed.

According to the Deputy Chief Physician for Medical Affairs of the Samarkand Regional Children's Multidisciplinary Medical Center, surgeon Dilshod Rakhmonov, the baby was born on April 28 in the Sherobod district and was brought to Samarkand on April 29.

It was noted that the baby had two extra legs and an additional genital organ. It was also found that the anus had not formed at all.

Initially, to save the baby's life, doctors brought its intestine out through the abdominal wall. During the second surgery performed on May 13, the extra legs were removed.

Currently, the baby retains two urinary bladders. It was also reported that each of the two kidneys is connected to a bladder through a separate duct.

Doctors stated that additional surgical procedures will be carried out in the future to remove the extra bladder and genital organ, as well as to form an artificial anus.

According to experts, it is considered very difficult for babies born with such a severe pathology to survive. Despite this, doctors have employed all available means to save his life.

It was reported that the baby's mother underwent screening examinations at 26 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. However, no defect in the fetus was detected during the examinations.

The head of the Sherobod district Multidisciplinary Central Polyclinic, Sherzod Eshkobilov, admitted that the medical worker who performed the screening examination had shown negligence during the process.

Currently, the baby's condition is satisfactory, and he remains under the supervision of doctors.
