The largest portion of the employed population in Tashkent city works in the wholesale and retail trade sector. This was reported by the State Statistics Committee in a statement.
According to the data, as of January 1, 2026, 241,600 residents are employed in this sector in the capital. This indicator is the highest among economic activity types.
Furthermore, 188,900 people work in the manufacturing industry, 161,200 in construction, and 139,400 in the education system.
While 118,600 residents are employed in public administration and defense, as well as compulsory social security, the number of employed in the transportation and storage sector stands at 103,100 people.
96,200 people work in other types of service provision, 79,100 in healthcare and social services, and 77,100 in accommodation and food services.
71,200 residents are employed in professional, scientific, and technical activities, 71,100 in information and communication, and 43,500 in financial and insurance activities.
The lowest figures are recorded in agriculture, forestry, and fishing (5,800 people), electricity, gas, steam supply, and air conditioning (7,700 people), as well as water supply, waste collection, and disposal (13,500 people).
Statistical data shows that trade, industry, and construction sectors lead the labor market in Tashkent city.
