FIFA is not planning to relocate the World Cup final despite the smog that has covered New York and its surroundings as a result of forest fires in Canada, Bloomberg reported.
According to reports, informal discussions have been held on the situation between FIFA and Andrew Giuliani, head of the US White House working group on the 2026 World Cup.
According to weather forecasters, air quality partially deteriorated on July 18, but the bulk of the smog is expected to dissipate by July 19.
The World Cup final will take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. On the morning of July 17, the air quality index in New York stood at 166, which was rated as "harmful to health." Currently, this figure has dropped to 67, indicating moderate air pollution.
The final match between Argentina and Spain begins at 00:00 Tashkent time on July 20.
