Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have been included in the list of countries with the fastest growth in travel destinations. This was reported in the "Travel Insights 2026: Focus on Europe" report prepared by Amadeus in collaboration with the United Nations World Tourism Organization.
According to the report, the number of travel-related internet searches for the two countries has increased by 64 percent. Experts attribute this to the growing interest of tourists in new destinations, natural areas, and experiences related to local culture, beyond traditional routes.
At the same time, this indicator reflects only the interest and search activity of tourists. It does not indicate an increase in actual bookings or the number of tourists arriving in the country.
The study also noted an increase in tourist interest in popular destinations such as Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, Belgium, and Norway.
According to Amadeus experts, this trend is opening up new opportunities for Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. By promoting lesser-known tourist destinations and strengthening cooperation with international airlines and tour operators, this interest can be converted into actual travel.
Overall, growth is also being observed in the European tourism market. From May 2025 to April 2026, the flow of travel to Europe increased by 2.3 percent, and hotel occupancy increased by 2 percent. Additionally, it was noted that tourists are increasingly choosing new and less popular destinations.
