In Uzbekistan, the number of zoos serving the population and tourists is 7.
According to the data of the National Statistics Committee, as of January 1, 2026, zoos are located in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Andijan, Kashkadarya, Namangan, Surkhandarya and Fergana regions, as well as in the city of Tashkent.
It is noted that a total of 744 species of animals are kept in these zoos. This indicator has decreased by 107, or 12.6 percent, compared to 2024.
At the same time, interest in zoos is increasing. During 2025, the number of visitors to these places amounted to about 1.5 million. This is 233.4 thousand more, or 18.9 percent, compared to 2024.
According to statistics, last year the number of visits to zoos per 10,000 population was 387.
According to experts, zoos are not only a place of recreation, but also play an important role in fostering love for nature and the animal world in the younger generation and in enhancing environmental culture.
