The Uzbekistan national team and Surkhon defender Bekhruz Karimov will continue his career at the Swiss club Lugano. The UzPFL reported this.

The 18-year-old footballer underwent a medical examination in Tashkent and signed a contract with the club. Now he is waiting to formalize a work visa in Switzerland. Once the documents are ready, Karimov will join the team.

Switzerland's Contropiede publication also reported that the footballer signed a contract with Lugano. The club has not yet officially announced the transfer, but it is expected to happen in the coming days.

Karimov is a product of Odil Junior's academy. He played in the matches against Portugal and Colombia as part of the Uzbekistan national team at the 2026 World Cup.

The player's move to Lugano comes at a time when the future of the team's right-back Mattia Zanotti is uncertain.

Lugano is in second place with 6 points after the first two rounds of the Swiss Super League.
