Reports that Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez would have a wedding caused an unexpected situation in Madeira. On August 8, thousands of the footballer's fans gathered in front of Funchal Cathedral to see the famous couple's wedding. However, it turned out that they had come to another couple's wedding. Foreign media reported this.
In social networks and some media, reports had spread that Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez would get married in Madeira. Because of this, about 2,000 fans and spectators gathered in front of Funchal Cathedral.
While many were waiting for Ronaldo and Georgina, an old "Rolls-Royce" arrived in front of the cathedral. Fans thought the bride who got out of the car was Georgina Rodriguez.
Some fans were wearing the footballer's number 7 jersey, while others wore masks with Ronaldo's image. One of the guests who saw the bride tried to calm the crowd, explaining, "This is not Georgina."
Later it became known that the wedding ceremony of Portuguese citizens Fabio Ramos and Fatima Nicole Cunha Teixeira was taking place in this cathedral. The couple was born in Madeira but lives in France. Their relatives and friends had to make their way through the crowd gathered in front of the cathedral to enter the wedding ceremony.
The priest who conducted the ceremony, Marcos Gonçalves, also confirmed that this wedding had no connection to Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez.
Nevertheless, Ronaldo's fans did not seriously interfere with the wedding ceremony. The bride and groom held their own wedding ceremony.
Earlier, reports had spread that Ronaldo and Georgina would get married in 2026, after the World Cup. However, the couple has not yet officially announced the exact date and venue of the wedding.
