In the city of Navoi, an illegal gold trade worth 340 million soums was stopped. This was reported by the State Security Service and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes.
It was noted that during an operational measure conducted within the framework of the "Safe and Healthy Motherland" operational-preventive measures, two persons residing in the Shofirkon district of Bukhara region, born in 1987 and 1993, were detained.
They had agreed to sell 212.9 grams of cast gold to a buyer for 340 million soums. During the operational measure, the suspects gave the buyer 26.3 grams of 999-fineness gold and promised to deliver the rest later.
Also, they were caught with material evidence at the time they received 20,000 US dollars and 100 million soums from the buyer.
During the operational measure, a hidden workshop intended for extracting gold from sand was also discovered in the residence of one of the suspects.
A criminal case has been initiated on this matter under Article 177, Part 4, Item "a" of the Criminal Code. Investigative actions are currently underway.
The State Security Service called on citizens to report via the short number 1520 if they encounter similar violations in everyday life. The identity of the applicant is guaranteed to be kept confidential.
