Illegal situations related to sending citizens for the “Umrah” pilgrimage were detected in the city of Tashkent and the city of Fergana. This was reported by the State Security Service.
In the city of Tashkent, a person born in 1981, without having the relevant license, introduced himself as a representative of a travel agency authorized to organize the “Umrah” pilgrimage. He demanded a total of 3,450 US dollars in exchange for sending three citizens to Saudi Arabia for the “Umrah” trip and ensuring they perform all rituals during the pilgrimage.
During an operational action conducted in cooperation by the State Security Service, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, and employees of internal affairs bodies, this person was caught with material evidence at the time of receiving 3,400 US dollars and 600,000 soums.
A similar situation was recorded in the city of Fergana. A person born in 1998, through acquaintances, promised to send four citizens for the “Umrah” pilgrimage and demanded a total of 4,200 US dollars in return.
He was detained by employees of the State Security Service and internal affairs bodies at the time of receiving the requested amount of money.
