The state visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to Uzbekistan has concluded. Within the framework of the visit, a number of important events were held in Tashkent and Bukhara.
On August 23, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a narrow-format meeting at the Kuksaroy Residence and the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council. The sides discussed issues of further development of strategic partnership and alliance relations.
At the end of the negotiations, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Ilham Aliyev signed the Treaty on Eternal Friendship, as well as the decision of the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council. Within the framework of the visit, a number of bilateral documents were adopted and new joint projects were launched.
On the same day, the heads of the two states were presented with the highest state awards of the countries. Ilham Aliyev was awarded the Order of "Highest Degree of Friendship" of Uzbekistan, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev was awarded the Order of "Heydar Aliyev" of Azerbaijan.
The visit program continued in Bukhara on August 24. Ilham Aliyev went to the ancient city together with his wife. Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his wife met him at Bukhara International Airport.
The heads of state, accompanied by their wives, visited the Samanids Mausoleum, the Ark Fortress, the Poi Kalon and Labi Havuz complexes, as well as the Kukaldosh Madrasah. The high-ranking guests were given information about Bukhara's historical monuments, their architectural features, and the cultural significance of the city.
Thus, the state visit of Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan concluded. At Bukhara International Airport, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his wife saw off the President of Azerbaijan and his wife.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also returned to Tashkent after the events in Bukhara.
