The final stage of the 2023 “Mirzo Ulug‘bek Vorislari” (Heirs of Mirzo Ulug‘bek) competition—dedicated to promoting innovation, science, and technology among Uzbek youth—has officially concluded. This year, 995 participants between the ages of 18 and 25 from across Uzbekistan submitted their projects. Submissions were accepted both online and offline, ensuring equal and accessible opportunities for youth throughout the country.

The competition was held in three stages: district/city level, regional level, and the final national round. In the final stage, the best projects were evaluated, and several winners were announced.

Among those winners, Malika Khikmatillaeva stood out remarkably. Currently pursuing her Master of Laws (LL.M.) at the University of Wisconsin in the United States, Malika made the bold decision to participate in this prestigious competition in her home country—and emerged as a national winner in the 2023 final.

Her winning project was a mobile application designed to assist students applying to universities abroad using artificial intelligence. The app aims to support applicants through various stages of the process, including choosing a university, submitting applications, preparing documents, and applying for visas. The project was highly praised not only for its technological innovation but also for its strong social impact.

The competition jury described Malika’s participation as “unique and inspiring.” They were particularly impressed by the fact that a student pursuing rigorous academic studies abroad made time to contribute to a national initiative and excelled in doing so.

“Malika Khikmatillaeva demonstrated exceptional knowledge, patriotism, and forward-thinking vision during the competition. Her participation has become a true source of motivation for our youth,” read the official statement from the selection committee.

Today, the “Mirzo Ulug‘bek Vorislari” competition is rapidly becoming one of the country’s most prestigious intellectual platforms. The presence of young innovators like Malika among this year’s winners reflects a promising future for Uzbekistan in the fields of education
and technology.
