At the moment, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is delivering a speech at the ninth annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank taking place in the city of Samarkand. This was reported by Sherzod Asadov.

Our country's leader emphasized that it is the first time the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is being held in our region:

“We consider the selection of Uzbekistan for the next, ninth session of this prestigious forum as a high example of our cooperation based on mutual respect and trust”.

In recent years, it has been noted that New Uzbekistan is becoming an international dialogue platform for discussing critical global and regional issues and finding effective solutions.

Moreover, representatives from more than 100 countries, nearly 2,000 participants, are attending the annual meeting of the AIIB.

President:

“It's no secret that the perilous situation in the world has become an integral part of our daily lives. Currently, the complex geopolitical situation, instability in the global economy, shortages of food and energy resources, poverty, and environmental problems are becoming increasingly acute.

For example, the average global temperature was predicted to increase by 1.5 degrees by 2040. But under the current circumstances, this situation might occur as early as 2030, which seriously concerns us.

One quarter of the world's population is facing the problem of clean drinking water. The acceleration of climate change has turned food scarcity into a global threat. As a result, nearly 800 million people are living in extremely dire poverty conditions.

Conflicts escalating in various regions are completely altering traditional logistics routes. Disruptions in the supply chain are causing the cost of raw materials and consumer goods to rise”.
