First of all, I sincerely congratulate you, dear ones, on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of one of our country's prestigious medical institutions – the Republican Specialized Center of Mother and Child Health. I express my deep respect and best wishes to all of you.
On this glorious occasion, I express my sincere gratitude to the multiethnic, harmonious team of the Center – dedicated doctors, scientists and specialists, and hardworking nurses – for their impeccable contribution to preserving our national gene pool by protecting the health of mothers and children in New Uzbekistan, and for raising a healthy and well-rounded younger generation.
Our focus on strengthening maternal and child health within our programs aimed at elevating human dignity in recent years is certainly not by chance. This is because it deals with a highly important issue related to the happiness and future of every person and family, and society as a whole.
With this aim, the leading medical system of our healthcare has been reformed based on advanced foreign experience and modern approaches, significantly enhancing its material-technical, scientific-methodical base, staff potentials, and structural organization.
Especially, founding the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Mother and Child Health last year, based on three institutions with historical traditions, was a major step in this direction. As a result, a unified and vertical management system was created and improved to provide quality medical services to more than 9 million 200 thousand women of childbearing age in our country, and to monitor fetal health, along with the establishment of improved medical prophylaxis and patronage services.
In talking about this, it's important to highlight that every family in our country is connected to the Center through patronage nurses and the “Women's Consultation” departments, and that 8,500 midwife positions have been included in the primary care medical teams for the first time.
Today, the Center unites 14 regional branches, 46 inter-district perinatal centers, more than 170 maternity complexes, and 209 Women's Consultation centers, which demonstrates its significant potential. This allows effectively coordinating the work of these institutions, establishing quality patronage service in the primary system, screening pregnant women, regularly analyzing their health, and in short, ensuring safe motherhood.
The Center is commendable for establishing close collaborations with leading medical centers around the world, widely implementing advanced methods of medical diagnosis and treatment into clinical practice. In particular, the fact that more than 1,300 surgical operations in the field of gynecology are performed successfully every year, and 36 types of high-tech operations have been introduced, saves many of our compatriots the trouble and expense of seeking treatment abroad.
The Center being the first among the state medical institutions in our country to go through international accreditation signifies its growing reputation not only within our nation but also abroad.
In the current complex era, where the risks to human health, including maternal and child health, are increasingly on the rise, we face even more urgent tasks. This demands more hard work, research, and mobilization from all of us than ever before.
Being the devoted representatives of this field, I believe that, with a deep understanding of this, you will serve our people even more actively with your knowledge, experience, skills, and professionalism.
In turn, giving special attention to the development of the field, properly motivating your honorable labor will continue to be at the center of our state's attention.
I warmly congratulate you once again on this joyful date, wishing all of you health, success and luck in your responsible activities, and peace and prosperity to your families.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev,
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
