Issues of further expanding the multifaceted and long-term cooperation between Uzbekistan and this specialized institution of the UN were considered.

The head of the organization highly appreciated the large-scale reforms being implemented in the tourism sector in Uzbekistan. Consistent measures are being taken to modernize tourism infrastructure and diversify services. The geography of air traffic is expanding, new museums are being established, and major cultural events are being held regularly.

It was specifically noted that the number of tourists visiting our country has increased 6-fold over the past 8 years, reaching almost 12 million people. It is planned to increase their number to 20 million and the share of tourism in our country's GDP to 7 percent by 2030.

It was emphasized with great satisfaction that cooperation between Uzbekistan and "UN Tourism" is developing at a rapid pace. In 2023, the Organization's General Assembly was successfully held in Samarkand, the International Tourism Academy was established, and soon the opening of an office on the theme of "Tourism on the Silk Road" will take place.

At the initiative of Uzbekistan, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring 2027 the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism.

During the conversation, the parties firmly confirmed their intention to further develop partnership, including improving the international legal framework in the field of tourism, implementing joint projects, expanding expert and technical cooperation, and training highly qualified personnel for the tourism sector.
