On October 30th, the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution "On improving the system for covering losses in regular intercity bus routes within and around cities" was adopted.
The document approves the Administrative Regulation for providing state services for covering losses incurred on regular intercity bus routes within and around cities.
The Regulation specifies the following procedures:
- compensating expenses for non-profitable regular intercity bus routes within and around cities;
- reviewing applications for covering expenses;
- providing subsidies for loss-making bus transportation.
Legal entities that provide passenger transportation services on a commercial basis and have a license, operating bus routes within and around cities with up to 30 percent losses are considered loss-making (excluding Tashkent city).
The register of loss-making bus routes is maintained by the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and regional administrations. Starting from February 1, 2025, carriers will apply for state subsidies through the Single Interactive State Services Portal with the necessary documents.
The responsible authorities will make a decision within 5 days. This service is provided free of charge. Denial of subsidies on unestablished grounds is not allowed. The document has been published in the state language in the National Database of Legal Documents and came into force on November 4, 2024.
