Japan's Liberal Democratic Party leader Shigeru Ishiba was re-elected as the country's Prime Minister following the second round of voting in the lower house of parliament.

This is the first time in 30 years that a Prime Minister was not elected in the first round of elections.

The 67-year-old politician was supported by 221 deputies. He had previously promised to reform his party, revitalize the economy, and double defense spending.

The vote took place in Japan on October 27, following early elections.
