Yesterday, in the early hours of December 8th, the Syrian President Bashar Assad left Damascus in an unknown direction. Various sources have disseminated reports that the plane he was on was shot down and that Assad was killed.
According to current information, Assad left Syria on a Russian plane, which took off from the Russian airbase located in Latakia, turned off its transponder, and could have only turned it on again shortly before landing. So far, the Kremlin has not commented on reports of Assad and his family's presence in Russia.
