The United States has designated the fourth – highest level of risk for travel to Belarus, urging its citizens to immediately leave the country and avoid traveling there. This was stated in the relevant announcement by the State Department posted here.
As noted, Washington has explained these recommendations by the Belarusian government's deliberate application of local laws, the risk of arrest, potential civil unrest. Additionally, the State Department cited Minsk's support for Russia's invasion of Ukraine as a reason for advising against travel to Belarus. The limited capabilities to assist American citizens residing in Belarus were also emphasized.
For information, in February 2022, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the US State Department suspended the operation of its embassy in Minsk "until further notice." A year later, the US government called on its citizens to leave the country immediately. Moreover, Americans in Belarus were advised to contact a US embassy or consulate in another country.
