The two-story house where protagonist Kevin McCallister's family lived in the film “Home Alone,” located in the village of Winnetka on the outskirts of Chicago, was sold on the eve of the New Year's holiday. This was reported by “The Independent” publication here.
It is noted that the two-story brick house, which covers an area of nearly 850 square meters, was priced at 5.25 million dollars in May of this year. The house was listed on the Coldwell Banker Realty website as "sale pending," meaning the seller has accepted an offer for the property.
The McCallister's house was put up for sale for the second time following the success of the 1990 film. In 2012, the house was sold for 1.58 million dollars. It took one year to find a buyer.
The new owners later renovated the house. The main staircase on the second floor, where the main character slid down on a sled, was also reconstructed.
The property consists of two living rooms, five bedrooms, and six bathrooms. Additionally, there is a large winter garden, a cinema room, and a sports court for playing basketball.
Macaulay Culkin, who portrayed the character Kevin, mentioned in an interview with one of the US media outlets that he was personally interested in buying the house but later retracted this idea.
