In the initial phase of the project, an analysis of the population's digital skills status will be conducted, new professions matching market needs will be identified, and a platform uniting IT education resources will be developed.
This was announced following the signing of a partnership agreement within the framework of the project “Connecting stakeholders for inclusive growth through the development of IT and digital education landscape in Uzbekistan” between the Embassy of Switzerland in Uzbekistan - Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the IT Education Association.
Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov and Andrin Fink, the representative of the Swiss Cooperation and Development Agency in Uzbekistan, discussed issues of developing IT education in Uzbekistan, expanding international cooperation, and implementing new projects.
This project aims to enhance youth IT literacy, provide opportunities for skill improvement, and also intends to employ rural youths and women.
The project involves comprehensive research and the revision of tailored educational programmes to meet the evolving industry demands for professional development.
This research-based approach provides information about subsequent phases and ensures adaptive and effective interventions. For these purposes, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation has allocated nearly 2 billion UZS (149,655 USD) in grant funds to the non-governmental, non-profit IT Education Association.
Within the project framework, an analysis of IT literacy and skill gaps in regions will be conducted, targeting youths, rural populations, women and girls, underprivileged families, and persons with disabilities.
