According to the Ministry of Energy report, recently, there are numerous instances of illegal use of energy resources, especially natural gas, by consumers. This is directly related to the expansion of digitalization in the sector, as well as the ongoing improvements in control mechanisms within the system.
For example, according to the information provided by “Uzenergoinspection”, from December 1, 2024, to February 15 of the current year, 167 cases of illegal use of natural gas were identified. Through this, 82 million 158.9 thousand cubic meters of natural gas were illegitimately used, causing damage to the state interests amounting to 210 billion 428.2 million UZS.
Moreover, according to the information given by “Hududgazta'minot” JSC, during this period their responsible employees identified 6472 cases of illegal usage. A recalculated payment for these cases accounted for 50 million 890 thousand cubic meters of natural gas amounts to 117 billion 300 million UZS.
Additionally, in this timeframe, the unauthorized sale of 4942 domestic gas cylinders containing 77.8 tons (equivalent to 36 thousand cubic meters) of liquefied gas was prevented.
"During the reporting period, the volume of illegally used natural gas amounted to 133 million 84.9 thousand cubic meters, which is equivalent to the one-month winter standard consumption of 266,170 households. Moreover, if these gas resources had been used wisely, methane refueling stations could have operated continuously for 10 days.
For your information: relevant documents regarding all identified cases have been formalized and sent to the control authorities.
Continuous control measures are being conducted by the Prosecutor's Office, “Uzenergoinspection”, and other relevant responsible institutions to prevent cases of illegal usage", the report states.
