Russian State Duma deputy Mikhail Romanov proposed restricting the work of migrants in the delivery sector.
On February 18, Tuesday, during a Saint Petersburg government meeting, the head of the Committee on Interethnic Relations, Oleg Kapitanov, highlighted that the residents of the Northern Capital do not rate the state of interethnic relations very highly. Only 43 percent of the city's population gave a positive assessment. The Committee had expected 62 percent.
The Committee plans to monitor migrants with the help of video cameras. By 2025, the city streets are expected to be equipped with eight thousand cameras with a system for identifying ethnicity.
At the meeting, State Duma deputy Mikhail Romanov complained to Kapitanov that foreigners often violate traffic rules and ride electric bicycles too fast on the sidewalks. Romanov proposed restricting migrants from working in delivery services.
