The deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan agreed to the amendments introduced by the senators to ban wearing face-covering clothing in public places. The document has been sent to the head of state for for signing, reports "Zakon.kz".
Senator Naurizbay Baikadamov announced the introduction of a norm in the law "On the Prevention of Offenses" that prohibits wearing clothing in public places that prevent facial recognition, except for medical purposes, weather conditions, or during the performance of service or work duties. According to him, this measure will improve the effectiveness of crime prevention in public places by enhancing the ability to recognize faces.
In Kazakhstan, the issue of wearing religious attire in public places has been discussed for several years.
