Graduates of classes not taught in the Uzbek language in Uzbekistan will also have to take exams in the state language. This was announced by the Minister of Pre-school and School Education Hilola Umarova reported.
By the decree No. 65 dated February 20, 2025, of the Minister of Pre-school and School Education, the procedure for conducting the final state certification in general secondary education institutions was determined. Based on this document, a list of subjects for the final state certification in general secondary education institutions and the forms of conducting exams, general education subjects, and a list of national and internationally recognized certificates assessing the knowledge of foreign languages were approved.
According to it, the final state certification for 9th-grade students includes:
- native language and literature (for classes taught in Uzbek) — written;
- state language (for classes taught in languages other than Uzbek) — written;
- mathematics — written;
- history of Uzbekistan — written/oral;
- physical education — in a practical form.
The final state certification for 11th-grade students includes:
- native language and literature (for classes taught in Uzbek) — written;
- state language (for classes taught in languages other than Uzbek) — written;
- mathematics (basic) / mathematics (advanced) — written;
- history — written;
Optional for the student:
- native language and literature (for classes taught in Karakalpak, Russian, Kazakh, Turkmen, Tajik, Kyrgyz), biology, physics, chemistry, basics of state law, geography — written;
- foreign language — written/oral.
Starting from 2025, it is determined that passing the final control exams in the state language is mandatory for graduates of 11th grade in general secondary education institutions where education is not conducted in Uzbek.
