The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received a delegation led by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, who was on an official visit to our country on March 5th here.
At the beginning of the meeting, the esteemed guest conveyed the greetings and best wishes from the President of Georgia, Mikhail Kavelashvili, to the leader of our state.
Issues related to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and economy, investment, transport and logistics, tourism, and culture were discussed.
The activation of relations at the level of parliaments and governments was noted with particular satisfaction. In 2024, mutual trade exchange increased by 50%, the number of joint ventures and the volume of freight turnover increased. Direct flights are being operated between capitals. A digital bank, established with the participation of Georgian investors, is operating in our country. Last year, the days of Uzbekistan culture and cinema were successfully held in Tbilisi city, marking a significant humanitarian direction.
The results of the recent meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission held in Tashkent city were highly appreciated during the conversation.
The importance of taking coordinated measures to maintain the pace of trade exchange, ensure the balance of exports and imports, advance industrial cooperation projects, efficiently use the transport-transit potential, and actively engage the regions of the two countries in economic cooperation was noted.
Particular attention was paid to expanding partnerships and exchanges in digitalization and tourism infrastructure development.
It was agreed to work closely at the level of the governments of Uzbekistan and Georgia in the future to implement the reached agreements.
