A United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai had to turn back because one of the pilots forgot his passport, according to the company's press service as reported by CNN reported.

It was reported that the plane had 257 passengers and 13 crew members on board. The flight took off at 14:00 local time. After two hours of flight, the plane turned back, heading to San Francisco and landed around 17:00.

The pilot did not have his passport with him. We organized a new crew to get our customers to their destination that evening. They were provided with meal vouchers and compensation, the airline's statement said.

The new crew flew from San Francisco to Shanghai four hours later, and the flight arrived at its destination approximately six hours late.
