The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on the eve of the blessed Ramadan holiday as a bright expression of our people's virtues such as kindness, broad-mindedness, humanity, affection, and forgiveness, to pardon a group of individuals who are sincerely remorseful for their actions, resolutely rehabilitated and serving their sentences.

In accordance with the decree, based on Article 109, Clause 23 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 488 individuals who are serving their sentences and who have sincerely repented and firmly embarked on the path of rehabilitation have been pardoned.

Out of the pardoned individuals, 100 were fully released from their primary punishment, 268 were conditionally released before completing their sentence, the imprisonment of 34 individuals was replaced with a lighter penalty. Additionally, the terms of imprisonment for 86 individuals were reduced.

The pardoned include 17 foreign citizens, 37 women, 37 men over 60 years of age, 167 youths (including one minor), and 5 individuals who participated in the activities of prohibited organizations.

Responsible ministries and departments were given instructions regarding the execution of the decree to reintegrate the pardoned individuals into their families and close circles, assist them in adapting to social life, engaging in productive work, establishing a healthy lifestyle, and finding a worthy place in society.
