6 European countries announced their readiness to put additional pressure on Russia and to implement new sanctions. This was announced following a meeting that took place in Madrid, the capital of Spain, on March 31, in a joint declaration by the Foreign Ministers of Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Spain, and the United Kingdom here.

They have expressed their commitment to supporting Ukraine politically, financially, economically, humanitarianly, militarily, and diplomatically.

“Many European partners, including the members of this group, have taken on additional significant military commitments to Ukraine and plan to do so in the future,” the text of the declaration states.

The countries have stated their readiness to use all available means to put pressure on Russia, including adopting new sanctions. This is intended to obstruct Russia's aggressive warfare and to create the best position for securing a just and stable peace for Ukraine.

Furthermore, they noted that Russian assets must remain frozen until the conflict is resolved and Russia compensates for the damage caused, maintaining this stance as necessary.

“We affirm that Europe must take greater responsibility for its security, be more prepared, and be capable of facing current and future challenges,” the statement says.
