The main opposition party in Turkey, the Republican People's Party (CHP), is demanding early presidential elections to be held here.

Supporters of the party opposing the president have successfully gathered more than 10 million signatures in support of this initiative, announced by the party leader Ozel during a rally in the Samsun province.

The mass campaign demanding early elections started on March 30 in the Trabzon province along the Black Sea coast, where the currently detained Mayor of Istanbul, Imamoglu, was born.

Previously, the opposition party aimed to gather 28 million votes - slightly more than the number of votes the current president Erdogan received in the elections of May 2023.
