In the city of Oviedo, Spain, police arrested a 53-year-old German philosopher and his wife, who had not allowed their children to leave the house for four years. This was reported by La Nueva Espana publication  .

It is noted that the parents did this to protect their family from various diseases, primarily from coronavirus.

The couple has three children — a 10-year-old son and eight-year-old twins. The windows of the house they lived in were securely closed, and contact with the outside world was completely cut off. The family even received food products through couriers.

A neighbor woman, who could hear the children but had never seen them walk in the street, contacted the police. Law enforcement set up surveillance and discovered that some family members never left the house at all.

During the investigation, it became apparent that the children were neglected. All three were in diapers and medical masks, and their behavior outside indicated hypersensitivity — for example, they looked at plants and grass with wonder.

According to the investigation, the parents had even created a strict schedule dictating when their children could go to the bathroom. They had not attended school. In addition, the children were given medications containing medical cannabis.

The couple revealed that they took such measures because of their intense fear of the coronavirus and other viruses. The children are now under guardianship, with doctors and social services working with them. The parents have been arrested.
