The Prosecutor General's Office conducted control measures aimed at protecting cultural heritage sites in the Tashkent region.
During the inspections, serious damage was found to a number of unique archaeological monuments.
It was established that 1400 cubic meters of the "Zokirtepa" monument, dating back to the 5th-7th centuries, located in the Akkurgan district, was excavated for planting poplars. As a result, the damage amounted to 44.6 billion soums.
129 cubic meters of the "Sanchtepa" monument in the same district were leveled to create a road - the damage amounted to 2.2 billion soums.
Damage to the "Karavultepa" and "Yertepa" monuments in the Parkent district amounted to 16.4 billion soums.
A section of 7,000 cubic meters of the "Mingtepa" monument, dating back to the 5th century BC, located in Piskent, was destroyed, causing damage of 231 billion soums.
Historical sites were also damaged in the Akhangaran, Yukorichirchik, Urtachirchik districts and the city of Nurafshan, with a total damage of more than 47 billion soums.
In total, it was determined that 342 billion soums were damaged to 13 monuments, and criminal cases were initiated on these facts. Preliminary investigative actions are currently underway.
