News about the possible introduction of a uniform “student uniform“ for university and institute students spread on social networks. The Ministry of Higher Education provided information regarding these reports.

According to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, the news spread on social networks does not correspond to the truth and is being misinterpreted.

The ministry emphasizes that the draft regulations do not contain any norms about the introduction of a uniform form for students or its mandatory requirement.

On the contrary, higher education institutions have the right to develop their unique corporate style and symbols based on their history, mission, cultural values, and regional characteristics. This initiative should be considered as aimed at forming the individual image of educational organizations. At the same time, aesthetic, hygienic, or appearance related recommendations are only voluntary and their implementation or application depends on the internal decisions of each educational institution. That is, within the framework of this Regulation project, the introduction of a special uniform or its mandatory requirement is not considered at all, — says the ministry's report.

Moreover, the initiative to form corporate style and brand elements (logo, color scheme, etc.) serves to effectively promote universities not only locally but also on the international stage, enhancing their competitiveness and strengthening their reputation. This approach is also considered an important part of the marketing strategy of educational institutions in global practice, adds the ministry.

The freedom and rights of every student as an individual are protected according to the Constitution and current legislation in higher education institutions, the report states.
