According to Alexander Bastrykin, the head of Russia’s Investigative Committee, 20,000 citizens from Central Asia who have acquired Russian citizenship are involved in the war against Ukraine.

It is noted that this number constitutes a quarter of the total number of newly naturalized Russian citizens apprehended during recent raids.

“Our military investigation department is conducting raids. So far, we have apprehended 80,000 such Russian citizens who not only refuse to go to the frontlines, but don't even want to go to the military commissariat,” said Bastrykin. “We have registered these 80,000 individuals for military service, and already 20,000 of them — young Russian citizens who don't want to live in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, or Kyrgyzstan — are on the frontlines of the war.”
