Recently, messages have been circulating on social networks claiming that a new wave of the coronavirus is sweeping the world. In particular, it is said that the growth rate is associated with the NB.1.81 strain. So, how true is this? Nurmat Atabekov, First Deputy Chairman of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Committee, answered the question in detail.

"There is information that the "NB.1.81" strain of coronavirus, identified in China in March of this year, is spreading in some countries," the expert said.

However, the reports that a new wave of "COVID-19" is sweeping the world are unfounded.

As is known, the World Health Organization stopped providing daily information on coronavirus infection from April 13, 2024.

The same is true at the state level. For example, the Russian organization "Rospotrebnadzor" ended the practice of publishing daily data from May 12, 2024.

In fact, this alone indicates that the epidemiological situation regarding the coronavirus on our planet is stable. Moreover, the WHO has not officially confirmed the information about the widespread transmission of the "NB.1.81" strain of SARS-CoV-2.

It is no secret that there are groups in the world interested in spreading sensational information about the coronavirus. It would be correct to interpret such information being published these days in the same way. Because the probability of observing a new wave on Earth is almost zero.

In the case of Uzbekistan, the epidemiological situation in our country is stable. The population has already developed the same attitude towards the coronavirus strain as towards ordinary respiratory diseases.

Because we have the opportunity to diagnose and treat this disease. In turn, people developed collective immunity to this disease. This is the situation not only in Uzbekistan, but on Earth as a whole!

True, COVID-19 cases are being detected in our country, albeit in small numbers. However, only those with secondary chronic diseases are being treated in the hospital. The rest are receiving outpatient treatment due to the mild course of the illness.

As for the news that "new viruses have appeared," so far, about 45,000 mutations of the coronavirus have emerged in the world, and this process has not stopped. However, over the past period, only 10-15 of them have been diagnosed with the disease. In this sense, there is no need to panic about mutations.

I would like to remind our compatriots that a monitoring system has been established to monitor which viruses are circulating in the territory of Uzbekistan, and that virus samples taken from patients are constantly tested and analyzed in relevant laboratories.

In this sense, one should not immediately try to spread sensational news about new strains being recorded in the world. There is no reason for concern.
