An investigation has been launched against the employees of the Bukhara pre-trial detention center.

An investigation has been launched into reports circulating on social media that a person held in pretrial detention facility No. 4 in the Bukhara region is being tortured and forced to give testimony.

The information service of the Authorized Person (Ombudsman) of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights reported this.

According to the information, the Ombudsman's regional representative in the Bukhara region visited the institution regarding these reports and studied the situation.

In particular, a face-to-face conversation was held with the person mentioned in the appeal, and his conditions of detention, the stated arguments, and the presence or absence of traces of injuries on his body were examined.

It was noted that pre-investigation checks have been initiated against certain employees of Investigation Detention Center No. 4 regarding the incident. Additionally, a forensic medical examination has been ordered for the person mentioned in the appeal.

The documents and other materials collected during the investigation have been submitted to the Bukhara Regional Prosecutor's Office for a procedural decision in accordance with the requirements of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The Ombudsman stated that he will monitor the ongoing inspection and investigation of this incident within the scope of his powers.
