US President Donald Trump, in an interview given to Fox News, revealed that he had been informed in advance about Israel's military plans regarding Iran. However, he emphasized that the United States did not directly participate in this operation. This was reported by zamon.uz here.
According to Trump, Washington is currently expecting a possible retaliatory strike from Tehran, and for this reason, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has been brought to a high state of readiness.
“If Iran responds, the US will defend itself and Israel,” — the president noted.
Trump also strongly emphasized that Iran should not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons, and mentioned the possibility of returning to diplomatic negotiations: “Iran cannot have a nuclear bomb. We hope to return to the negotiation table,” — he said.
According to Fox News journalist Jennifer Griffin, during the interview, the president also recalled the death of Iran's top military leaders, including the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami. This news spread from Tehran, but Iranian officials have not yet officially confirmed this.
Trump also disclosed that he had communicated with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu several times in recent days.
These statements coincide with a time of increasing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
