A meteorite fragment that fell in the U.S. state of Georgia pierced through a house roof. ABC News reported this.

It is reported that the age of the cosmic object is older than Earth's, having formed 4.56 billion years ago. This means it is approximately 20 million years older than Earth.

On June 26, a mysterious "fireball" flashing across the daytime sky in the southern U.S. states caught the attention of residents. It fell to the ground at an extremely high speed, piercing through the roof of a house near Atlanta.

The meteorite pierced the roof, passed through the air duct, and damaged the ceiling and floor. The impact left a small 1.5-centimeter-deep dent on the floor surface.

Scientists propose naming this cosmic rock the "McDonough meteorite" after the city of McDonough where the incident occurred.
