The number of victims from the explosion at the "Elastik" plant near Ryazan has reached 24. According to the FVV, three more bodies were recovered from the rubble, and one of the injured died in the hospital.

Currently, it is reported that 157 people have suffered injuries. August 18 has been declared a day of mourning in the Ryazan region.

The explosion occurred in the early hours of August 15 in the gunpowder workshop of the plant. Rescuers have so far cleared only half of the rubble. Preliminary data suggest the incident was caused by violations of industrial safety regulations.

"Elastik" is registered in the Russian state registry as a manufacturer of weapons and ammunition. The plant previously experienced an explosion in October 2021, which claimed 17 lives.
