Macron stated that in the talks held in Kyiv, there was no discussion whatsoever about Kyiv ceding any territories, saying, "This was not even debated. We are very far from this topic."
According to him, Ukraine will not be forced to reduce or limit its military strength in any future peace agreement with Russia.
On the contrary, Donald Trump and European leaders have also agreed that Ukraine must have "a strong army capable of resisting any aggression."
Additionally, Macron clearly stated that if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not take steps toward peace, sanctions will be further intensified:
"If the response to this process is denial, we will assert the necessity of sharply escalating sanctions," he said.
